Akshaye Khanna To LOCK HORNS With Richa Chadha In Court

Akshaye Khanna, who returned to the silver screen after a long hiatus of 5 years with Ittefaq and Mom, will now be seen essaying the role of a lawyer in Section 375.

The film also stars Richa Chadha and is being directed by Manish Gupta. Section 375 will be produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak. The film revolves around a rape case which is ambiguous in nature and the judge is unable to decide who the culprit is.

 In Section 375, the accuser’s defence lawyer, played by Akshaye, and the public prosecutor, played by Richa, locks horns in court. According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, as part of the research for the movie, Gupta attended several hearings in court for two years.

“There are special courts with female judges who only hear rape cases. I have also met survivors, their families, alleged rapists and lawyers representing both sides. It’s very disturbing not only for the accused and the survivors but also their families,” Gupta told the leading daily.

 “Rape laws are being misused by men and women alike leaving the judiciary and police confused as to which rape case is genuine and which is fake.” said Manish Gupta in a statement.

 Well, it will be interesting to see Akshaye and Richa engaged in war of words in this courtroom drama.
